— In Fortsetzung früherer Studien weist F. nach, daß Dalmatien wahrscheinlich schon seit den ersten Dezennien des 9. Jh. als byzantinische Archontie anerkannt war; der Prior von Zadar war auch byzantinischer Archon von Dalmatien; erst bald nach 870 wurde Dalmatien zum Thema erhoben. Vgl. jetzt ausführlich Ja.
